Repository Policy

Journal of Science and Technology (JST) · e-ISSN 2456-5660 · published by Longman Publishers

JST is a fully open-access journal: every article is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0) and the authors keep their copyright. Because of that, authors need no permission from the journal to deposit or share any version of their article, anywhere, at any time. This policy says what may be deposited, where, and how to cite the published version.

1. What may be deposited, and when

2. Where

Any repository or site the authors choose: institutional repositories; subject repositories and preprint servers (for example arXiv, SSRN, bioRxiv, Zenodo); the authors' own or their institution's websites; academic networking sites; and any repository a funder or institution requires. The journal deposits every article's metadata with Crossref, exposes it through its OAI-PMH interface for harvesters, and preserves the published version in Portico; author deposits are in addition to that, not a substitute for it.

3. Conditions

  • The deposited copy must cite the published version — journal name, year, volume, issue, pages and DOI — and link to it on jst.org.in. A preprint or accepted manuscript deposited before publication should be updated with the citation and DOI once the article is published.
  • The published version must be deposited as it is, unaltered; the version of record is the one on the journal's website, and any correction or retraction applies to it (see the Crossmark Policy).
  • The licence stated on the deposited published version must remain CC BY 4.0. Authors choose the licence for their preprint and accepted manuscript; the journal recommends CC BY 4.0 there too.
  • Depositing a preprint is not prior publication and does not affect consideration by the journal; authors are asked to mention the preprint and where it is posted when they submit.

4. Funder and institutional requirements

Immediate open access under CC BY 4.0, with no embargo on any version, allows authors to meet open-access requirements from funders and institutions that call for immediate deposit of the accepted or published version under an open licence. Authors who need a written confirmation of this policy for a funder or repository can request one from the editorial office.

5. Data and supplementary material

Data underlying an article are deposited separately, in a data repository with a persistent identifier, as the Data Availability Policy describes. Supplementary files published with an article carry the same CC BY 4.0 licence as the article.
