Privacy Statement
The Journal of Science and Technology (JST), published by Longman Publishers, Hyderabad, India, collects personal information only to run the journal, and handles it as this statement describes and as the data-protection law that applies to it requires.
What we collect
When you register, submit a manuscript, review one, or join the editorial board, we collect the information you enter: name, e-mail address, affiliation, country, ORCID iD, reviewing interests, and the correspondence and files you send us. The website's server records the technical information every web server records (IP address, browser, pages requested) in its logs.
What we use it for
Running the journal: handling submissions and peer review, communicating decisions, publishing accepted articles, sending registered readers the tables of contents they asked for, and keeping the record of what the journal has published and reviewed. We do not use your information for any other purpose, and we never sell, rent or trade it.
Who sees it
Editors and reviewers see what they need to handle a manuscript; under double-blind review, reviewers do not see the authors' identities and authors do not see the reviewers'. When an article is published, the authors' names, affiliations and ORCID iDs, as given in the article, become part of the public record: they appear on the journal website and in the article's metadata, which the journal registers with Crossref and makes available to indexing, discovery and preservation services. The publisher's technical staff who maintain the website may see data in the course of that work under a duty of confidentiality. We disclose information to no one else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Records of submissions, reviews and decisions are kept for as long as the journal exists, because they are the journal's editorial record. Your account remains until you ask for it to be removed. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have your account and unnecessary personal data deleted, by writing to editor@jst.org.in. Information that is part of a published article or of the journal's editorial record cannot be deleted, because the published record must remain intact; errors in a published article are corrected as the Crossmark Policy describes.
Cookies
The website sets only the cookies it needs to run — chiefly the cookie that keeps you logged in. It does not use advertising trackers.
Security
The website is served over HTTPS, access to editorial data is restricted to the people who need it, and the site is kept updated. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your data we will tell you.
